66/365 - Break time.

66/365 - Break time., originally uploaded by panodanno.

Here is a picture of the cycling scene in Pt. Reyes Station today. What do you suppose a cyclist on a 60 mile ride through the coastal California hills does when they get a break in a town with an awesome bakery. The bakery is the Bovine Bakery. My favorite is a Blondie. Others like the morning buns. We all like the coffee.

BTW, I only rode 53 miles. Lori rode w/ her friends through all the little towns going out to the coast. I don't really like all the traffic and wasted time at red lights, so I rode up the coast and met them. We timed it perfectly which was great.

I felt fine, Lori was super strong. Her friends bonked at Stinson Beach and she ended up driving back to pick them up. That under 40 crowd just can't keep up w/ us oldies.

Oh yeah, my Brooks saddle is the bomb. Nicely broken in, let me tell you.

65/365 - Mountain Waters

65/365 - Mountain Waters, originally uploaded by panodanno.

I went for a little hike today on Mt. Tamalpais. You can see the rain has filled the streams...

But the forecast for the next week is dry. We need at least a few more inches of rain. We are up to 25" or so, which is low for the whole year. It's pretty average for this time of year though. Given the dry week ahead, we may or may not make it back into a wet cycle. I hope we do.

In addition to my hike, I managed to get a short run in. I would have liked to go for a bike ride, but didn't want to take the time. Tomorrow will be a 50-miler though.

Met a friend for dinner on the Peninsula. On the way I stopped at the bridge for a few quick pics. The storms were finally clearing just in time for the sunset.

Our weather is shifting in to a dry spell (so they say), so it will be nice this weekend. Time to get back on the bike. OKFree is coming...

63/365 - View from the top

I rode my mountain bike to the top of Mt. Tam during lunch today. The weather was pretty mixed, but it was nice when I arrived.

I'm home this week. It sure is nice.

Went to the doctor today for my final Hep B boster (now I'm imune), and he gave me a prescription for an antibiotic for the tick bite. Just in case.

61/365 - Stormin'

We are getting plenty of rain and wind right now. Max wind today is 39mph. The plum trees are dancing.

We are up to around 24" of rain for the year now. About normal. The newspaper wants to hold on to the drought, but it's not going to be this year. They just couldn't be patient and let the storms come in to fill our reservoirs. I guess that wouldn't sell papers...

60/365 - Alien Invader from the planet Lyme

60/365 - Alien Invader, originally uploaded by panodanno.

This tick bit me early this morning (4:30 a.m.) -- with intent to infect me with Lyme Disease. I wasn't having it. Now he is a specimen that will get trotted out if I show any adverse effects to his breakfast choice.

These small guys are the dangerous ones too. We think Cookie picked him up across the street when we went over to feed the neighbor's dog last night. They get a lot of deer around their yard (no other houses and on California Parks land) and their yard has a full crop of these little guys. Very dangerous actually.

I have our friend's list of Bay Area doctors that understand Lyme disease. I will post them soon...
